I couldn't hear you over the sound of (something)

Used to mockingly dismiss someone's complaint or argument in the face of some much more important or impressive thing. A: "Don't you think you're being a bit reckless with your money?" B: "Sorry, I couldn't hear you over the sound of my incredible new 85-inch TV!" Oh, were you talking to me? I couldn't hear you over the sound of how awesome I am. A: "The employees are going to revolt if they know you gave yourself such a big end-of-year bonus." B: "What's that? I couldn't hear you over the sound of my new $5,000 suit."
