two upon ten

obsolete A phrase used as a code between shop clerks to keep an eye on someone who may be a potential shoplifter. Derived from the longer phrase "two eyes upon ten fingers." Primarily heard in UK. A: "Oy, Jack! Was that two upon ten matter ever resolved?" B: "Ah, I know just the one you speak of. Sorting it out now, mate."
