(the) top of the line

The absolute best of a certain thing, often referring to a product that is of the utmost quality (and usually the most expensive). When used as a noun, it is preceded by "the." That store only sells top of the line gear. You may want to consider some lower-priced options. We will only accept the top of the line. It's the best or nothing. Whoa, I don't need some top of the line luxury car, I just need something reliable that will get me to and from work.
