It is time to stop working, either at one's job or on a particular task, for the day. When I still couldn't find the source of the discrepancy after the third pass-through, I decided it was time to call it a day. OK, time to call it a day, everyone! We'll pick things up where we left off tomorrow. Since it's Christmas Eve, I think it's time to call it a day, don't you? Enjoy the rest of the day off and have a happy holiday!

It's time to quit for the day. Jane: Well, I'm done. Time to call it a day. Sue: Yes, let's get out of here. Jane: Well, I've finished all my work. Sue: Yes, it's late. Time to call it a day.
