skurf

skurf

To ride on a short surfboard atop the wake created by a motorboat, which is used to tow the rider until they are able to remain upright unaided. A portmanteau of "ski" (from "water ski") and "surf." My cousin taught me how to skurf when we were out at the lake house last summer. It felt weird not having my feet strapped into anything at first, but it was a lot more thrilling when I got the hang of it!

skurfing

An act or instance of riding atop the wake of a motorboat on a short surfboard. A portmanteau of "skiing" (from "water skiing") and "surfing." Skurfing always looked like fun, but I never had the patience learning how to balance on the board without holding on to anything.
