1. Literally, to place one's head on a surface, such as a pillow or a table or desk, to rest or take a nap. I feel a little woozy. I think I just need to put my head down for a few minutes.
2. To put forth effort on a task that involves reading or writing. If you just put your head down, you'll finish your paper much faster.
