be (someone's) call

To be ultimately left up to someone to decide. I don't really care what movie we see—it's your call. I think we should use the extra money to invest in some new computer upgrades, but it's the boss's call in the end.

While I wanted an education badly, I confess that in my youth I had a fear that when I had learned to read and write very well I would receive one of these "calls"; but, for some reason, my call never came.
