To hire or pay someone who is ostensibly responsible for some amount of work, only to do or oversee most or all of that work oneself. To those who feel ripped off when they are charged such exorbitant fees by their financial advisers, I ask: Why keep a dog and bark yourself? With a bit of research and focus, I firmly believe that anyone can manage their finances independently, no matter how large or small. I wouldn't keep a dog and bark myself, so why would I pay a copyeditor when I end up disregarding all of their changes anyway?
