give someone the runaround - to act in a way which makes it difficult for someone to do something, for example by refusing to tell them things they need to know. Every time I phone to complain, I keep getting the runaround.

The fact is that you'll probably get the runaround if you call your fund to find out the biggest holdings.
The difference is that they pay significantly less, receive bills that are clear and accurate, and don't get the runaround usually associated with customer service departments.
