Runger reports the information much like a radio newscaster, bringing to life the author's descriptions of a five-foot-high wall of water crashing into the town; people pleading for help while floating down the river on rooftops; the desolation left in the flood's aftermath and much, much more. Though the photographs here convey an appropriate sense of artistic serenity, actually bringing to life the vision of people such as Daniel Buren, Yoko Ono, Norman Foster and Arata Isozaki was fraught with difficulties. We intend to embrace all of the wonderful characteristics that make Longwood special, while bringing to life its unrealized potential. |
