1. slang To be totally absorbed in something, such as a task or conversation. Primarily heard in UK. Oh wow, I didn't realize I'd been cleaning for so long—I was really well away!
2. slang To be drunk. Primarily heard in UK, Australia. Do you remember last night at the pub at all? You were well away!
3. slang To be asleep. Primarily heard in UK, Australia. I didn't feel tired at all until I sat down. Before I knew it, I was well away on the couch, and my husband had to wake me up!
