1. Used to indicate the conclusion or cessation of something. A: "So, that's it? All our research just stops?" B: "Pretty much. They chose not to extend our funding, so that's the ballgame." With so few votes remaining to be counted, I don't think there's any way that I can catch up in this election. That's the ballgame, folks.
2. Used to indicate the gist or general idea of something. A: "So the device scans your heartbeat to give you an indication of your fitness level?" B: "There are a few ways to personalize it, but, yes, that's the ballgame."
