Having reconsidered or revised one's opinion of something. ("On second thought," without a final "s," is more common in American English.) Primarily heard in UK. I'll take a tuna sandwich. Actually, on second thoughts, I'll have the soup of the day.

COMMON You say on second thoughts when you suddenly change your mind about something that you are saying or something that you have decided to do. I said ... well, no, on second thoughts never mind exactly what I said. Note: People sometimes say on second thought with the same meaning. `Wait there!' Kathryn rose. `No, on second thought, follow me.'
