get worked up

To cause or allow oneself to enter a state of mental or emotional agitation because of something. A reflexive pronoun can be used between "get" and "worked up." Mom's getting really worked up. You'd better go talk to her about this. You're getting yourself worked up over nothing—I'm sure the doctor will tell you it's nothing. The professor said she really needed to speak with me later, and now I'm getting all worked up about it. What if I'm failing the course?
