dawn of a new day

A new or fresh beginning, or a turning point that achieves as much. With their first democratically elected leader in office, many in the nation felt that it was the dawn of a new day. It was truly the dawn of a new day when we—two terrified first-time parents—left the hospital with our darling son. When the two sides finally agreed to peace talks after years of war, it certainly was the dawn of a new day in that part of the world.
