To finish something with an advantage, often in the form of a profit. You've spent so much money on this project that you'll be lucky to come out ahead. They have such a great team that I can hardly believe we came out ahead in the playoff series. Hey, because I didn't have to pay an exorbitant fee for parking, I ended up coming out ahead today!
