close with (someone or something)

1. verb To conclude something, usually an event or performance, with someone or something. For the talent show, let's close with a choir performance. The film opened with that character, so it should close with her too. It's a Broadway play—of course I want it to close with a bombastic and uplifting musical number!
2. adjective Having a very friendly relationship with someone. I was very close with Patty when we were kids, but I haven't talked to her in years. I know he's gotten pretty close with one of his colleagues. They hang out all the time after work. A: "I actually have three siblings, but I'm not close with any of them." B: "Whoa, I just assumed you were an only child."

to end a performance with a particular act or event. The show is almost over and we will close with Sarah Miles, who will announce her own song title. The evening closed with a magic act.
