The character was initially presented as little more than an obnoxious, zhlubby nobody, but as the show continued he was given more nuance and depth, and he eventually became one of the most relatable and sympathetic characters in modern television. Samantha's new boyfriend looks like a zhlubby version of Mark Wahlberg.
