you can't live with them, you can't live without them

A phrase used to express frustration with someone or something that the speaker ultimately cannot give up. My husband is a total slob, but I still love him. Men—you can't live with them, you can't live without them. I love watching sports, but they drive people crazy at the same time. You can't live with them, you can't live without them.
