water is wet

Used to highlight or emphasize something as being extremely obvious. A: "Your dad is a real grouch!" B: "Yeah, and water is wet. What else is new?" A: "I think something's wrong with the engine." B: "Is that so? Next you're going to tell me that water is wet!"
