vote (one) out of (something)

To decide to remove someone from a role, position, group, or organization through an official organized vote. Only Congress has the power to vote the president out of office through the impeachment process. I really think we ought to vote him out of the club after the awful things he did. Word has come through that the CEO has been voted out of the company by a 72–18 majority of the board.
