us and them
A phrase describing the perception of an antagonistic or fraught relationship between two groups, especially those with unequal power, influence, privileges, etc. It doesn't have to always be us and them. We need to start seeing people as individuals with unique views—not just grouping everyone into one of two sides. An us and them mentality is driving the labor negotiations, and it shows in the lack of progress that's been made.
