toss away

1. To discard or dispose of something that is unwanted or no longer needed. A noun or pronoun is used between "toss" and "away." Make sure to toss your garbage away after you're finished with lunch, kids. He took one look at the flyer and tossed it away.
2. To reject or abandon someone or something. A noun or pronoun is used between "toss" and "away." He had such an amazing job opportunity lined up, but he tossed it away so he could spend the year traveling in Japan. I thought the connection we had was genuine, but she tossed me away like an empty wrapper the moment she started feeling bored.
