throw a glance at (someone or something)
1. To glance at someone or something very quickly. That woman at the bar keeps throwing glances at you. You should go talk to her! Make sure you throw a glance at the pressure gauge every now and then to make sure it doesn't reach dangerous levels.
2. To examine or look over someone or something very quickly or cursorily. Would you mind throwing a glance at my report? I don't want there to be any glaring mistakes before I submit it. The doctor just threw a glance at me and said I looked fine. He didn't even take my blood pressure, for Pete's sake!
