Used to emphasize that some mistake or misdeed is so bad that there is no way someone can be excused of responsibility for it. Look, there's no excuse—you shouldn't have spent so much money at the casino, period. I understand that you have been dealing with a lot of stress at home recently, but there's no excuse for such poor quality of work.
