the rich get richer (and the poor get poorer)

Society is structured in such a way that those who already have wealth are given more opportunities to increase their wealth, while those in poverty face far greater challenges that often result in further financial decline. The majority of political lobbyists are representing the interests of corporations. Is it any wonder then that the rich get richer no matter what legislation is passed? When you can afford to hire lawyers, accountants, and investors, it becomes much easier to make the economy work for you. When you're poor, everything pushes you to take on more debt just to keep your head above water. The rich get richer, and the poor get poorer.
