take a look-see

To look at or inspect (something) very briefly or quickly. A: "Is there any more of that cake left in the fridge?" B: "I'll go take a look-see!" Well, I took a look-see at your engine. I'm no expert, but I reckon you're going to need to replace the entire carburetor.
