To have a leading role in some performance. Samantha Hornsby stars in the film, playing a woman seeking revenge against the mob for the death of her son. He's starring in an opera that has been touring around the world.

to be a featured actor in a play, movie, opera, etc. Roger starred in an off-Broadway play last season. Mary always wanted to star in her own movie, but it was not to be.
