1. noun A bit of paper that one has chewed and formed into a small wad. Used as a projectile. Tommy and Billy sat in the back of class throwing spitballs at each other.
2. verb To suggest or discuss ideas in an informal, freeform way; to brainstorm. A: "I do have one idea—nah, it's stupid." B: "Come on, tell us! We're just spitballing here." Let's all get together tomorrow and spitball some ways we could boost sales.
