1. In hurling, running with the sliotar positioned on the end of one's hurley. Primarily heard in Ireland. I can't believe it—he scored after an incredible solo run!
2. Something undertaken or implemented without the input or approval of others. Used especially in reference to politics Primarily heard in Ireland. The party's solo run looks like it will ultimately backfire—there are just too much things they're failing to consider. The senior TD has been walking back comments he made in his strange solo run in front of reporters yesterday, in which he seemed to voice support for extremist beliefs and fringe conspiracy theories.
