sky-high

1. adjective Exorbitant in cost. Sky-high real estate prices have driven many middle-class workers out of the city. Those new Super Ultra High Definition TVs are pretty awesome, but their price tag is sky-high for the average consumer.
2. adverb To an excessively high level or degree. Gas prices always seem to go sky-high over holiday weekends. The company's stock prices are expected to rise sky-high following news of the acquisition. Books were piled sky-high all around his office.
3. adverb Apart completely in or as in a powerful explosion. The tanks blew the enemy fortress sky-high. Someone left the gas on, and the whole building ended up blowing sky-high.
