shikker

1. adjective, slang Drunk. From Yiddish. He spent the whole evening getting shikker, much to the displeasure of his parents. I love this holiday. You're instructed to drink so much wine that you're basically being encouraged to get shikker all day long!
2. noun, slang A drunkard; an alcoholic. That new boyfriend of Miriam's is nothing but a shikker. He can't even hold down a job! My father was a worthless shikker the whole time we were growing up. When he finally left for good, we were all just relieved more than anything.
3. noun, slang To drink alcohol to the point of drunkenness. They were up till 3 AM shikkering, and now they're all feeling sicker than dogs. He's been neglecting his studies and his religious duties, preferring to spend the weekends shikkering with those no-good friends of his.
