sell (something) on credit

To make something available for purchase without paying all or any of its price up front, instead allowing the customer to pay for it at a later date. We sell all of our furniture on credit, so you can walk out today with the things you need and worry about the price later. After being burned by one too many customers unable to pay what they owe, we've stopped selling any of our products on credit.

sell something on credit

to sell something now and let the purchaser pay for it later. I'm sorry, we don't sell groceries on credit. It's strictly cash-and-carry. There is a shop around the corner that sells clothing on credit.
