see both sides (of something)

To understand and respect both opinions or positions in an argument, conflict, or disagreement, without necessarily favoring or agreeing with either one. People are so blinded by their political affiliations that they usually fail to see both sides of any given issue. I always try to see both sides before I make a decision about any case presented to me.
