To shock or frighten one very suddenly or severely. ("Bejeebers," a variant of "bejesus," is a mild euphemistic oath used here as an intensifier.) Don't sneak up on me like that—you scared the bejeebers out of me! The sound of the fire alarm scared the bejeebers out of us this morning.
