To arrive to rescue someone from some danger or problem, especially suddenly or unexpectedly. The mailing was at a standstill until Joe from IT rode in on a white horse and unjammed our printer. I don't need you to ride in on a white horse, OK? I got myself into this mess, and I'll get myself out.
