rex-pat

informal Someone who leaves their birth country to live elsewhere, returns home, and then leaves again. A portmanteau of "repeat expatriate." Ernest Hemingway was a famous rex-pat. He left the US for Europe, returned to Florida, and then lived in several other countries before finally settling in Idaho, where he died.
