recommend (someone or something) as (something)

To give someone or something a recommendation as being ideal in some particular role, function, or ability. I really recommend her as a psychiatrist—she helped me through a really tough period of my life. Would you recommend this hotel as a suitable place to bring kids? It was a bit uncouth of him to recommend himself as the best candidate for the position.
