put the (old) nosebag on

slang To begin eating; to have a meal. A nosebag is another word for a feedbag, the bag tied under a horse's mouth that allows it to feed. I can't wait to get to Grandma's and put the old nosebag on. She always cooks the tastiest food! What do you say we put the nosebag on before we head out? Don't want to travel on an empty stomach!
