put (something) on a front burner

To establish something as a high priority; to give something more or immediate thought or attention. A less common variant of "put something on the front burner." Now that I'm finished with work for the summer, I can put my thesis on a front burner again. This issue needs to be put on a front burner by the government, or it could lead to disaster in the near future.
