push ahead of

1. To forcibly move to a position in front of someone or something. Someone pushed ahead of me in line at the bank. I wanted to push ahead of the barriers so I could get a better view.

2. To forcibly move someone or something to a position in front of someone or something else. I pushed my son ahead of the other people so he could get an autograph from the famous singer. She pushed the table with her science project in front of the class to demonstrate how it worked.

3. To propel someone or something forward while in front of oneself. I pushed her ahead of me as we made our way through the crowd. The man pushed the shopping card ahead of him through the grocery store.

to push someone or something forward from behind. I pushed Gerald ahead of me so he could get a better view. Sally pushed the cart ahead of her and filled it from the supermarket shelves.
