To cause one to make a decision or take a side when presented with two options or possibilities, usually after a period of indecision or delay. That last debate finally pulled Sally off the fence—she knows which candidate she's voting for now. I wasn't sure which applicant I would choose, but Tom's impressive cover letter pulled me off the fence.
