obsolete To accept a slight or insult without showing or responding with anger or indignation. Lady Mary has quite a temper. I doubt she will accept any critical remarks gracefully, as she seems to have never learned to pocket an affront. A: "A true gentleman pockets an affront." B: "Yes, and I bet he seethes at his attendants later."
