KARACHI -- The four-day Pakistan International Film Festival (
PIFF) finally came to a close on Sunday night, with a closing ceremony and gala awards night.

"It is necessary for
PIFF to raise funds on a basis of foundation, to make it remain stable.
PIFF is also launching a 20,000 dollar Flash Forward Award for first- and second-time directors from outside Asia.
"All these products are positioned to get the consumer to trade up," notes
Piff.
PIFF, being the first large-scale film festival since the Kara Film Festival years ago, has brought the local film community alive again and opened doors to more exchanges and interactions with artists from across the border, as well other international film-makers.
Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan inaugurated the event on January 9, where he mentioned that
PIFF would get the status of a 'state film festival'.

There is good reason, says Kim Ji-Seok, who programmes the Asian sections at South Korea s annual Pusan International Film Festival (
PIFF), the biggest in the region.
"I think it more meaningful that indie films like 'Old Partner' and 'Breathless' were successful this year, because they were supported by the
PIFF," says festival director Kim Dong-ho.

Piff) to see a good number of people taking selfies with Pakistan Peoples Party chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari when the band had begun playing music.
Acclaimed Indian film-maker, Nandita Das will be attending the first Pakistan International Film Festival (
PiFF) from March 29 to April 1 in Karachi.
