To make sense of or otherwise respond to that which is being discussed. Often used as an imperative. He hates the cold, and yet he moved to Calgary. Pick the bones out of that. No, thank you, I'm not picking the bones out of this he-said, she-said mess. The boss can deal with it on Monday.
