To be adequate or not below average; to be mediocre or good enough. Used especially in reference to the appearance of someone or something. The jacket isn't anything special, but it would pass in a crowd. The reconstructive surgery was able to repair the damage to his face to the degree that he would pass in a crowd without notice.
