slang To require some amount of something addictive, especially in order to stave off or recover from withdrawal. When I was a junkie, I constantly felt like I needed a fix of heroin. I just can't get my day going without coffee. I need a fix of caffeine when I wake up or else I'm really grouchy for the rest of the morning!
