near-term

1. Related to the near future. The company's near-term plan to weather this economic downturn is to cut staff and departmental budgets.
2. Approaching the end of gestation. Typically applied to human pregnancy. For me, Braxton-Hicks contractions started in the second trimester, which was a surprise. I thought I wouldn't have them until I was near-term. Thank god I'm finally near-term. I feel like I've been pregnant forever.
