monkey bars

1. Another name for a "jungle gym," a structure made of poles and beams that children can play on, as found in playgrounds. I'm sick of tag. Come on, let's go play on the monkey bars! When I was seven, I fell off the very top of the monkey bars and broke my arm.
2. A row of bars suspended horizontally above the ground. To use them, one dangles from one rung and then swings to the next. Typically exists as part of a jungle gym. When we were kids, my brother and used to see who could hang from the monkey bars the longest.
