rude slang In a fast, frenetic, and harried manner. Usually used in the phrase "run/rush around like a blue-arsed fly." Give yourself enough time before deadline so that you don't have to be rushing around like a blue-arsed fly at the last minute. I need to sit down for a minute—I've been running around like a blue-arsed fly all day!

If you do something like a blue-arsed fly, you do it very quickly and without having much control. I ran around like a blue-arsed fly, packed two suitcases and a trunk, and left everything else.
